Proverbs 22:6 Train Up A Child
The
message in my blog is to appeal to the whole family. Whether you are a single
father or a single mother raising children alone, or married couple with
children living separate lives or living in different countries. Whether you
are a single parent, regardless of if you are a family that has lived with
struggles or not, family plays a critical in shaping who our children become in
the future.
We
live in a very lonely and confusing world. Today, many people, specifically our
children are living in a virtual world. They are imprisoned in a virtual world
of their own, away from voices and even touch, they talk and feel in
cyber space and not aware if they are chatting to an actual person or a well
programmed robot. Some of them even believe that the whole world function that
way. Life is very hard and confusing for families living in the industrialized
society, right or wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of human character
are no longer clear, moral and spiritual starvations are all too common in
these counties. Too many are lack of moral reasoning and the ability to think
in absolute. This is a critical challenge for parents, especially single
parents who dreamed of raising God fearing, intelligent, bidding spiritual kids
in this new digital age.
Growing
up, our parents used to teach us wisdom by looking into our eyes and expressed
God’s hope for our lives. They also warned us about the possible dangers
waiting for us in the world; we were trained how to protect ourselves from the
forces that would harm us. We were thought how to guard ourselves from the hurt
feelings, disappointments and negative influences from people who do not have
good intentions.
The
moral message in this blog is though parents might be overwhelmed with the
commotion of activities around them, they must find peace and tranquility and
find time to sit down and talk to their kids. You will be very surprised to
learn how responsive and intelligent they are. They have a great sense of
discernment and are aware of their surroundings. Be honest and sincere when
talking to them, it is a big deal to them to hear the person they look up to
say I am sorry when they mess up. Parents must be mindful that they are the only
light for their kids in such a dark world, so parents must be the
candle and the mirror that reflects the light.
