Spark The Fire In Your Children
The
Power of Encouragement
To encourage means to
instill courage. It is very important for parent to encourage their children to
attempt more and to take more calculated risks. To a young child, almost every involvement
is innovative. Learning to do math, new vocabulary words, or to ride a bicycle
requires unceasing courage.
Many experts say that kids
learn to express themselves by mimicking the adults in their environment, but
they also mentioned it’s best for the adults to give words of encouragement
such as, “that’s great, you’ve got it…”We should always encourage our kids in
learning new words, developing new vocabulary, writing and reading well.
I know theory and practice
are different, but as parents sometimes it may be difficult to use encouraging
words; we must keep in mind that one aspect of feeling encouraged is feeling
good physically. Exuberance and vitality require energy; by that I mean as
parents we need to be well rounded, being in the best health physically,
emotionally, mentally and spiritually. When we are in good mood, happy and feel
encouraged, we are more able to encourage our children.
The greatest enemy of
encouraging kids is rage. The more irritation the parents harbors, the more
angers the parent will dump on the kids. This is a natural reaction, and the wise
and thoughtful p parents will know when this is happen and he or she will do
everything possible to keep it to a minimum and to handle it maturely.
I agree that Solomon was the
wisest king to rule Israel. He wrote the book of Proverbs, the most practical
book in the bible. He said, “A gentle answer turns away wrath.” I struggle with
this myself, the volume and the tone of a parent’s voice has a great influence
over a child’s reaction to what the parent says. It takes lots of practice for
me to learn to speak softly and slowly and I am still not there yet. I do
acknowledge that it is very important to remain calm when speaking with kids.
